From 2–5 June 2025, the CONcISE consortium gathered for its third Topical School, hosted by the GROC-UJI Research Group at Universitat Jaume I (Castellón, Spain), with additional activities at FYLA (Valencia), one of the largest producers of supercontinuum laser sources for industry and research.
The week opened with a project management and administration session, where partners and doctoral candidates (DCs) reviewed project progress, discussed upcoming and submitted deliverables, and planned the next rounds of secondments. The group also visited FYLA to gain insights into industrial applications of advanced laser technologies.
Scientific training formed the core of the programme, with lectures covering topics such as:
Digital control of light beams with spatial light modulators
Digital and analogue holography
Multidimensional single-pixel imaging applications
Spatial and temporal shaping of ultrafast lasers and applications
Ultrafast fibre lasers in bioimaging

Hands-on workshops on adaptive optics and analogue holography complemented the lectures, while a transferable skills session on aligning R&D with industry needs helped DCs connect their research to real-world impact.
Throughout the week, all DCs also presented updates on their individual projects, sharing results, challenges, and next steps. These sessions encouraged cross-disciplinary exchange and strengthened collaboration within the network.
The third Topical School demonstrated once again how CONcISE combines high-level scientific training with transferable skills and industry engagement, preparing its DCs to become both innovative researchers and future leaders in photonics for biomedical applications.
